Designate. Actively watch. Every time.
A simple, visible way to designate an active watcher when kids are in or around water.
What is Water Watch?
Water Watch is a simple way to make designated active supervision visible. It begins with a waterproof wristband, supported by a guide and a simple routine families can use every time they're around water.
- Designate a responsible watcher
- Actively watch
- Pass the band when taking a break
No technology. No complexity. Just clarity. Because active watching isn't automatic. It needs to be intentional.
More than just a band.
Water Watch helps turn designated active supervision into a simple, repeatable habit.
Water Watch combines a simple reminder, practical guidance, and an easy routine that helps families make active watching clearer, easier to remember, and easier to do every time children are in or around water.
This vital layer of protection has had awareness. What it hasn’t had is a habit.
Designating a water watcher has been part of water safety guidance for years, but in real-life moments, good intentions can disappear into distraction, fatigue, or the assumption that someone else has it covered. Water Watch is designed to make active watching visible, repeatable, and easier to remember.
A simple routine, with each piece designed to help it stick.
Each step is supported by part of the Water Watch system, making the practice easier to explain, easier to find, and easier to use every time.
-
1. Share it.
The Water Watch Guide provides practical steps and language to help family members and caregivers understand what the band means and how Water Watch works.
-
2. Give it a home.
The reusable pouch, included with Single and Family sets, gives the band a designated home so it is easy to find when you need it.
-
3. Use it. Every time.
The Water Watch band makes the designated watcher clear and visible. Designate the watcher, actively watch, and pass the band before taking a break.
One critical layer of protection.
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4.
- Swim lessons build skill.
- Fences create a barrier.
- Life jackets add protection.
- Education builds awareness.
- Water Watch helps make active supervision visible and intentional.
The National Drowning Prevention Alliance cites the finding that 88% of children who drown had at least one adult present.
Water Watch does not replace existing safety measures. It completes them by helping address the active supervision gap.

Ripple Effect
Water Watch Foundation promotes water safety through awareness, education, and a simple practice: designating an active watcher, supported by a band that makes that watcher clear every time children are in or near water.
Every band purchased and every donation made helps fund the work behind the mission, including raising awareness, providing education, and putting bands in the hands of families who need them.
You’re not just getting a band. You’re helping build a culture where active watching is the standard.

THE STORY BEHIND WATER WATCH
A movement built from a moment
Years ago, one frightening minute on a family beach trip changed the way founder Angie Hughes thought about supervision around water. Her family was safe, but the tragedy she witnessed stayed with her—and eventually became the reason Water Watch exists.
